PIR Motion Sensor

PIR Motion Sensor

The Passive Infra-Red (PIR) sensor is a +5V motion detection sensor that outputs a single status bit when it has been tripped. This is a great sensor for home automation. The long range and wide angle makes it easy to cover a wide area. The small size, 25W x 35L x 18H mm (1W x 1.375L x 0.75" H) -without the cable which is 7 cm long (2.75")- allows convenient and discrete mounting.

The 5V output makes it easy to connect to any microcontroller. The long range and wide angle makes it easy to cover a wide area. The small size, 25W x 35L x 18H mm (1W x 1.375L x 0.75" H) -without the cable which is 7 cm long (2.75")- allows convenient and discrete mounting. Includes a manual with specifications and instructions.

NOTE: Because the sensor is passive, it relies on an infrared signature (heat) from the object to be monitored so only warm-bodied items (relative to the ambient temperature of the room) can be detected. For example, people and animals can be detected but a ball would not - unless it was noticeably warmer or colder than the ambient temperature.
