USB To Serial UART Breakout Development Tool (UCON-UART)

USB to serial UART breakout development tool

The INEX UCON-UART board is a small development tool based on the FT232RL USB to Serial UART interface chip. INEX created this tool to provide microcontroller developers easy access to a PC's USB port using the FTDI virtual device drivers. This tool is also a reference design for customer-based applications using the FTDI chip in-circuit.

Features:

  • Based-on the FT232RL USB to Serial TTL-level UART converter chip
  • Single chip USB to asynchronous serial data transfer interface
  • Entire USB protocol handled by the chip - No USB-specific firmware programming required
  • UART interface support for 7 or 8 data bits, 1 or 2 stop bits and all parity options
  • Fully assisted hardware or X-On / X-Off software handshaking
  • Data transfer rates from 300 baud to 3 Mega baud (RS422 / RS485 and at TTL levels) and 300 baud to 1 Mega baud (RS232).
  • 256 byte receive buffer and 128 byte transmit buffer utilises buffer smoothing technology to allow for high data through put.
  • Full UART pin configuration includes TxD, RxD, DTR, DSR, RTS, CTS, DCD and RI
  • Get power from USB bus and supply power to external application (maximum 100mA)
  • Jumper selectable logic level between +3.3V and +5V
  • Interface with any microcontroller to communicate with computer via USB port
  • Supports the Virtual COM port. The Programmer can create with popular visual programming tools such as Visual BASIC, Visual C or Borland Delphi.
