ZX-THERMOMETER Advanced temperature sensor with water-resist thermistor

ZX-THERMOMETER

This is a NTC thermistor, 25oC 10kohms ± 3%.
The NTC thermistor is coated with black epoxy for water resistance.
It can be connected to most INEX microcontroller boards via the 3-pin JST connector.
The DC output voltage is linear with temperature within its range.
The ZX-THERMOMETER accepts a wide range dc supply voltage of +1.8 to +5.0Vdc.
Measures 2cm x 4cm in size.
The kit contents: ZX-THERMISTOR board x 1 NTC thermistor with cable x 1 JST3AA-8 cable x 1 Documentation x 1
What is a thermistor?
The thermistor is a type of resistor with resistance varying according to its temperature. The word is a portmanteau of thermal and resistor. Samuel Ruben invented the thermistor in 1930, and was awarded a U.S. Patent No.2.021.491. Thermistors are widely used as inrush current limiters, temperature sensors, self-resetting over current protectors, and self-regulating heating elements.
Thermistors can be classified into two types depending on the sign of k. If k is positive, the resistance increases with increasing temperature, and the device is called a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor, or posistor. If k is negative, the resistance decreases with increasing temperature, and the device is called a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor.
Resistors that are not thermistors are designed to have a k as close to zero as possible, so that their resistance remains nearly constant over a wide temperature range. Thermistors differ from resistance temperature detectors (RTD) in that the material used in a thermistor is generally a ceramic or polymer, while RTDs use pure metals. The temperature response is also different; RTDs are useful over larger temperature ranges, while thermistors typically achieve a higher precision within a limited temperature range.
